Me pasó lo mismo. Pensé que escribiríamos en español y me encontré con el inglés.

Este sitio esta radicado en EU, el idioma de los negocios sigue siendo el Ingles.

Amigos:

Rafael tiene razón. La lengua franca internacional de nuestros días es el inglés. Por otra parte, hay toda una serie de sensibilidades culturales e idiomáticas. Por ejemplo, que muchos que se consideran "latinos" o "hispanos"no hablan español; o sí, pero crecieron en EE.UU. y se sienten más a gusto en inglés. Sin embargo, toca la tecla en español o pregunta abiertamente cuál idioma prefiere tu interlocutor. Yo lo hago por regla porque soy editor bilingüe. En la publicidad de EE.UU. —y este es otro tema— aún se ve el español como un "byproduct" de los productos en inglés. Craso error, porque ya somos 40 millones de hispanos aquí, cada día con mayor poder adquisitivo.

Es posible que sea más fácil para muchos latinos en los USA escribir en inglés en vez de hacerlo en español; pero ya veo que ustedes lo escriben muy bien. Probablemente ustedes llegaron a los USA ya un poco más "viejitos" (con todo respeto!), como lo hice yo y por lo tanto tuvieron la oportunidad de aprender a escribirlo bien en un país latinoamericano o en España. Es una ventaja que tenemos sobre los que crecieron aquí! Saludos a todos!

Hi Miguel,

The difference would depend on feelings, nationalism, patriotism and on how deeply rooted is the spanish language in each one of us. Some may love love spanish for a number of reasons, and others english for another number of reasons. The beauty lies in the fact that we can write both languages and understand each other!

Thanks Guy for your response... If I may follow up, do you think it would be better/worse/indiferent if we were to communicate here in Spanish? I think it goes beyond the language (rendering it irrelevant), and I am looking for validation on that...

No one has mentioned accent! I am curious to know how many of you feel the accent is getting in the way of opportunities. As to what language we use to communicate, I prefer Spanish, but because we are here to acquaint ourselves with other professionals, who may not speak Spanish, I say English should be.

I would say that we let each one decide which language he wants to use for the purpose of communicating with the rest of us, without imposing a specific language.

Bueno, creo que las razones son 1) LatPro está ubicada físicamente en los EEUU, y aunque hay muchos latinos acá (incluso más todavía en California de donde soy) esto daría preferencia al inglés. 2) Creo que también en LatPro hay trabajos donde uno hay que hablar portugues.

Pero entiendo tu frustración debe haber más contenido en el español...

Tiene mucha razon, yo tambien me estaba dando cuenta de eso. Soy de USA, asi que mi idioma nativo es el ingles, pero se me hace raro que todo mundo se comunica solo en ingles en este sito. Bueno, quizas sea por la cuestion de encontrar trabajo.
