Hello, I have had more than 20 years of experience in footwear design and product development and marketing in Far-East and Latinamerica having travelled to over 20 countries. But for the past 5 years I have been in the wholesale and marketing of soccer goods with emphasis in the Hispanic Market throught the USA.
I am at the point where I want to return to the International Product development & Marketing, and now with contacts internationally in Asia, America and Europe.
Does anybody have a lead towards a consulting position that could lead to a return to the International Business?.

Sure, but what about it? Reading the other responses, this has taken the direction of vocation, studies and employment. Is that what you want to discuss? Or is it international business opportunities? Or trends?

Very interested. Anything that you can share?

Well, you are in the path of many enjoyments while at work, depending in the industry you decide to become an expert. International Business used to be a career to those who enjoyed traveling, going places, planes, trains, hotels, etc. In spite of that old approach about being living from hotel room to another hotel room and ride in airplanes all the time, I believe those were the old days. IB has come to be a different experience notwithstanding, a rewarding one.

Today, the IB professional have to engage in using the Information technology if wants to avoid the old road warrior schema. Video conferencing, email, e-commerce, joint ventures, strategic alliances, all have changed the landscape of this profession. And let's not forget to mention "globalization" and specially, the culture approach.

Socorro, do you want to be successful at your career? Make the best effort to understand other people's culture. Without this understanding, it is an off road full of stones. Success in IB depend on many factors, but ignoring those I just mentioned, surely will make this profession a frustrating experience.

I believe also that the success of an individual is measured by the amount of passion he/she places in the task at hand. We all have what it takes to accomplish great things. It is a matter of will, self discovery, determination, patience and desire to excel. Best wishes in your endeavors.

This is a good field and it is encouriging. My vast experience in Finance and knowing a second languagehas open the doors for me to grow and to travel. International business is a plus in this global economy , it's challenging and the best of all you get to meet people from all over the world . Also International Business is a great source of networking when you share your experiences with your collegues and most of all with people with different types of culture( we may talk the same language biut word have a different meaning), so I see that this is a great opportunity to jump on board and grow with this increasing wordly challenge.

Socorro,

International business is very important in the Internet age. Companies must be able to compete on the local, national and international levels if they are to be successful. If not compete, then they must at least know who their competitors are in other countries. I have just graduated with my MBA in International Management. It is crucial that companies understand the people that work for them as well as their target countries and/or markets. I am very interested in this topic and if you decide to write or publish something more, I would love to hear about it. I'm currently looking for a job. :)

Wilfredo,

I've been doing some work with a startup company focused on using government funding to help Latinos in the USA to obtain funding or help with current and/or future debt (credit cards, loans, mortgages, etc). www.ventanabierta.com
