Hi Leslie, based on my research, I've seen that most of the companies in IT are moving their sales force direclty to the countries, you have to take into consideration that the salaries in Latin American are less expensive compared with US compensation, moreover, work and live in country have the benefit to be more familiar with the market and the culture.

My background is computer hardware distribution sales (over 15 years), but I recently double majored in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Kansas. Does anyone know of a manufacturer looking for a bilingual sales rep or a manufacturer's rep position available?

Well I have been in the IT world for the last 12yrs. Currently I'm working as a contractor for the city of NY. I'm looking to leave this business but I haven't found a field that is such rewarding. My goal is to open a consulting firm in Latin America but i think other people are trying to do the samething and it's all the same story, the lack of infrastructure, however with WIMAX technology things will change our latin countries. Stay tune and keep reading on wireless it will change our country.

You may be good at training people on what you've learned. I'm not sure if it's what you want, but you may want to think of it as an option. There are many training centers that sometimes need help.

How did I get started in IT? It all started years ago when I was developing a Financial Account application under the HP Unix platform for a well known company in the San Francisco Bay Area. As curious I was, I kept asking questions about TCP/IP networking, which lead me to learn more about it. So installed and configured Linux servers for myself and clients. From then on, I decided to transfer my software developing skills, communication skills and problem-solving skills over to IT. Merging these skills with IT was a beginning of beautiful relationship.

Years later, a company in the Bay Area heard about my talent, dedication and determination called me up stating they had IT problems and their system was not stable. The reason I decided to go for it, I like challenges and I knew if their system went down for any period, there would be lots of loss revenue. Needless to say to make the story short, as soon as I was hire, they had major problems but I was able to get them up within a short period even though they did not have maintenance contract for their servers. After I repaired their server, I immediately advised them of their infrastructure what was needed to keep the back bone of their enterprise stable. After upgrading, to-date everything is humming smoothly. It was this job that opened doors to me because management believed in me, knowing that I would get the job done under deadlines and under budget.

At this time I am planning to relocate to the Mid-West, so needless to say I am looking for contacts around the Greater Kansas City Area. If anyone knows of any, please let me know.

My idea position would be managing a start-up to small company's IT department as well as doing Web development. I am a type of person that has to be doing many projects and introducing new stable technology.
