Hello Hilmena:
I do understand what you went through in Williamsburg, Brooklyn because as I grew up here in Forest Hills I was exposed to both Hasidics and Reform Jewish folks. I even married a Jewish woman for ten years whom I knew from my Junior High days and continued our friendship through college.I'am now divorced.

Hola, Salut or Hi! I'm Laura (pronounced Lauda). Born in Mexico City and have been living for the past 11 and 1/2 years in this amazing melting pot of the tri-state area. Recently, I lost my job and look forward finding a new one either in the food industry (wine and spirits too) or in the auto industry (was working for Chrysler and Mercedez, but hired by Mopar, which is a division of Chrysler in a Parts and Distribution Center). I need to work to be able to support myself so please, if you hear of anything, please feel free to email me ljtyring@aol.com. Muchas gracias. Forgot to mention that I am trilingual, I speak English, French and Spanish.

Hello to my fellow New Yorkers!

I was born and raised in The Bronx, love my borough and all it has to offer, as well as the rest of NYC.
My dream career is what I'm doing right now, representing my culture through helping others (as a Librarian).
My grandmother, Dona Isabella Polanco, has inspired me the most in my life. She lived her life with passion, grace and style. When she walked into a room, everything just stopped. I feel like I've inherited some of her special magic, but I use my powers wisely ;)
Wherever I am with the people I love, that's my favorite place.
Choosing a favorite book is an IMPOSSIBLE question for a Librarian to answer! My preference runs toward History and Biographies.
I love most all genres of Music; particularly all Latin styles. I can listen to Chopin, Madonna or Frankie Ruiz, depending on my mood.
I hope this group unites all those out there who strive, like I do, to represent our heritage in the most positive way everyday.

Bendicion a todos!

Hello everyone,
My name is Ashley Cruz from Puerto Rico, however I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved on my own to New York with aspirations about 4 years ago. I have done everything from work at a wall street firm (Merrill Lynch) to work as a fundraiser for nonprofits on the streets of New York (which is no easy task-mind you!); which is what I have been doing for over a year now. I feel that I have the ability to accomplish so much and be an important asset to an organization that works in the area of marketing or research (my dream job)...however, because of the job market and the way it is, it has been difficult getting a jump start to a better career and pay regardless of my good resume.
I am inspired by any Hispanic woman who has a house, career and exciting life of her own- I pray that I will be next in line for that opportunity. If anyone rings that doorbell for me (or knows someone who can!), I will run to answer that door.

Best,
Ashley C.

I was born in Colombia. I am actively looking for a position in the area of marketing or business development working for Latin America or Global Markets. I've been inspired by every person that has crossed my life. I don't have a special place, or a special book I basically enjoy everything and I enjoy exploring all the great things that the city has to offer. Music all. Get to know each other at a professional level, be supportive of each other dreams and hopes.

Hello everyone!

I was born in New York City (first generation Dominican-American), moved to the Bronx, NY at the age of 12 and then to Westchester county (Yonkers) in my early 20's.

I am in my dream career of social work. My goal within my career is to become a professor of social work at a college or university this year.

My inspiration comes from different sources: first and foremost is God and my spirituality and beliefs. I have been inspired by my amazing parents and sisters, my network of close friends and colleagues and also my clients who continue to show me that people are resilient and that change is always possible.

I dont have one favorite place to hang out in NYC, I enjoy the nightlife- lounges, restaurants, comedy clubs. I also like cultural experiences- theater shows, museums, workshops, bookstores. In the warmer months I really enjoy the Hudson Valley with the amazing views of the hudson river, taking tours of historic places in Westchester and going for drives.

I dont have one favorite book, since I do read alot and enjoy many types of books. I like mystery/suspense thrillers, horror books, new age/spiritual books, and of course best sellers (like what you find on Oprah's book club lists). I also read magazines a lot, favorites include Psychotherapy networker, O magazine, Latina magazine.

Favorite music types- R&B, hip-hop, bachata, merengue, rock/ alternative. I also like music from other countries like Turkey, India.

I hope we grow and do some positive things in the community with this group of talented, intelligent and motivated Latino professionals.
