Bilingual & Hispanic jobs / career social networking | LatPro

Welcome to the NYC group on the LatPro Network. A great way for everyone to get to know each other is for new members to come and tell us a little about yourselves.

Here are some suggestions of what you can share, but please be creative, add whatever you'd like!

Where were your born?
What is your dream career? What do you hope to do to attain that?
Who has most inspired you?
Where is your favorite place to hang out in NYC?
What's your favorite book?
What is your favorite type of music?
What are your hopes for the NYC LatPro group?

Greetings from São Paulo!

When my family first move from Colombia, when I was 10, we moved to Elmhurst. Since then I've had a special fondness for NYC. Although later we moved to West Virginia (yep!) I traveled to visit family in the city. When I was old enough I had the luck to go back to NYU & Tisch School of the Arts to learn about film making. Have been living in São Paulo for the last 5 years, had to learn Portuguese, and they say that São Paulo is like NYC....naaaaaa....there ain´t nothing like New York City.

I have worked as Regional Business Development Manager for the US, Lat Am and the Caribbean. Looking for  regional business opportunities, specially in 'hosted' solutions, or in other words, services that can be delivered locally via the web. You provide the service (in Portuguese (we can help with the translation)) we introduce it to the country, provide marketing, sales, customer support, and most importantly, collections and repatriation of $$$$. I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and lived in Boulder, Chicago, and San Francisco for eighteen years. I got to New York 1.5 years ago.

I would love to work for a company that sells products/services that enhance human life. I will be happy if I work on marketing and sales. Two strategies to get this kind of a job is by networking and reviewing job postings. For my artistic career I dream to paint and produce videos and props for large scale artistic productions. Network will be way to find opportunities.

Sources of inspiration are my mom, Gandhi and The Dalai Lama.
A favorite place for me is Central Park; for a bar, Simone, in East Village; for a restaurant, many...Spice Market, Tia Pol, Caracas Arepa Bar in Brooklyn, Balthazar...

The Alchemist by Coelho is my favorite book of all times.

I have many music favorites...salsa, classical, hip hop, bossa nova, electronica...

My hope for LatPro is to develop relationships with colleagues in order to exchange life together, career opportunities, and professional development information.

I am currently a recruiter for the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) in Fort Worth, Texas. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. to Puerto Rican parents. I graduated from Rutgers University with a M.S.W. and have worked in urban education for the past 15 years. FWISD has a total of 135 schools and 80,000 students. We have a 60% Latino/Hispanic student population and we are constantly seeking highly qualified, passionate, enthusiastic, bilingual professionals.

My mother is my greatest inspiration single parent in foreign land. I would say the Tunnel was one of my favorite spots. I recently read the The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao..pretty good.

I am hoping to visit NYC in March for the Big East Career Fair.

Madison Square Garden, NYC

Welcome to the LatPro network!

LatPro was launched in 1997 to become the very first job board connecting Hispanic & bilingual professionals with recruiters. We still lead the field, consistently ranking among the top Internet job boards. Now you can join our professional network. While this is designed for you to connect with new people who share your interests it's not for soliciting or promoting any business opportunity - please ask for clarification if in doubt.
