I have done some light translating independently, without certification. What impressed the hiring party for the translation was my education: B.A. and M.A. in Spanish.

I was exploring LatPro and found, under Groups, a group for translators. Were you aware of it? I just asked to join.

How are you doing Lisette? welcome! and thank you for being part of our circle of networking , We are sure you will visit our website, your can read some of our articles we have there, very soon you might hear about Miguel's new book that we want you to have... We look forward to hear the new achievements, sometimes we stop acquiring more rewards and success because we think we have done our dream goal or we have done so much (success it's still an opportunity) .... but one of the thoughts word class is "The most beautiful thing a human can do, is to explore, up to the limits, she or his purpose in life."Miguel Lopez> in all Miguel's seminars, he says: It is my wish for every person to find true satisfaction in all the successes, for them... to die for what they love to do, not to die for what they have to do. Don’t allow motivation to bring you fantasy, instead allow your true virtues , power, hard work to bring you reality.
"Miguel is not a motivator Speaker, Miguel don't believe in fantasies, Miguel believes that we have real capacity to do and reach what we want, if we; Read, Risk the time, Ask, Look, Work, Plan, Achieve Goals, (weekly, Monthly, yearly, every 10 years) and if we dare to do it" if we commit. Miguel's purpose is to research the real virtues and potentialities that we have as Humans.

Mediocrity lives in those who wait for things to change.... Success embraces those who dare to act.

Hello Lisette,

We are extending an invitation to join us at our weekly networking luncheon in Sacramento!

Visit www.lunchandlearnclub.com for more info.

We are always looking to share opportunities and to cross-refer business to entrepreneurs like yourself... If you know of a fellow business associate who may also be interested in finding out how to generate more business through “word-of-mouth” marketing, please feel free to bring him or her. The Lunch & Learn Club is a very exciting organization to be a part of and hearing about the benefits of joining will not be a disappointment to anyone.

Please let me know if you will attend. Hope to see you there!

Gabe

PS. If you are looking for work, or if our luncheon is too far for you to travel, feel free to join our social networking community...

Loera,
It depends on the school you are intending to apply, some of them might request you to take an exam like GRE or GMAT. In my case I had to take the GMAT and the internal exam from the school. I believe Spain is going to be the same thing, som of them required to take to internal or you just can take those that we have here, you just need to find out with the school.
About the job hunt is being hard, I would say is more about the current economy situation than any other thing. Spain is going to be a good experience, Salamanca University, Barcelona, etc. The schools and professors are tough, but good choice.

It was a very good experience, obviously depending on the country where you're going to do it, but I believe that just the fact that you are doing something in a different place other than your home makes it already an exciting experience. Personally I did it in Chile, and both the program and the country were excellent. where are you planning to go?

Hola Lisette-

Keep your eye on the application deadlines for the Jan. 2010 semester. It will be in a few months I am sure. In regards to volunteering I know of many agencies in the Bronx that are good: Puerto Rican Family Institute, FEGS, Comunilife Inc. , Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, Astor Guidance Center, Mental Health Association of NYC. Look up all of these agencies online and see where you submit a resume and volunteer application.

Hi Lisette- I can recommend for clinical social work (if you are highly interested in mental illness, psychiatry, and would possibly want to do therapy)- New York University, Columbia University, Fordham University, and Hunter College. I did not have to take the GRE's when I attended New York University. I believe that the only looked at my undergraduate grades and my writing sample. I can also tell you that NYU and Fordham give scholarships for minorities, so although they are as expensive as any graduate school, they do help financially. Good luck!

Welcome to the LatPro network!

LatPro was launched in 1997 to become the very first job board connecting Hispanic & bilingual professionals with recruiters. We still lead the field, consistently ranking among the top Internet job boards. Now you can join our professional network. While this is designed for you to connect with new people who share your interests it's not for soliciting or promoting any business opportunity - please ask for clarification if in doubt.
