Did Honduras put democracy against the wall?

Or it's true what the new government in Honduras says, that they did it to defend their democracy?

Thanks Vanessa for your comments on this important blog.

The quesion here is if the congress follow the legal process to bring Zelaya to the justince system and select a presidentail candidate that people was going to be able to elect to legally replace Zelaya and not with a military coup. I don't think people would like to replace Zelaya with military coup, if they were not happy woth Zelaya, he was going to be easy to be replaced through an electoral process not to a military coup.

The final say should be from the honduran people not from few people in the military service and the congress.

We need to replace Zelaya in the election day when really we make democracy and implement the people's wishes of whom they would like to have as a new president.

This is just my one cent opinion.

Thanks again

Hello Fernando - I was born in Tegucigalpa Honduras. My Mom has been glued to the TV ever since this whole thing came to light. She has recorded every single news show and has been calling relatives daily to get their take on what is going on in our Country. In recent years, our country has enjoyed being a democracy, I am not sure why people are not supporting what is the rightful act of a nation to protect and preserve the value Democracy. As we all have heard and read articles surrouding the controversial outspoken President Chavez, we have learned his allies are not for Democracy. It is my understading based on the information we are receiving that the axile President Zelaya has an ally in Mr. Chavez. This to Democracy loving Hondurans is a very scary prospect. It leaves this tiny country to feel abandoned by others in the world whom also love living in a Democratic country. There has been talks within the Honduran papers that Venezuela has declared war on Honduras and is preparing to take over the people of Honduras. Me being thousands of miles away from my beloved country and all of the childhood memories with my friends, I have grown deeply concerned of my family members who live in Siguatepeque.
I don't understand why we are not backing and respecting the wishes of the Honduran people and stand up with them and say NO to a communist government. The people in that country know first hand what is going on, they are the experts not us, not the other nations in the world.
It is now 2009 and just like the other unjust in the world we shake our head in disbelief, we watch and we wait. http://www.laprensahn.com/content/view/section/244684
