Quien soy yo?

I am someone who likes giving Spanish lessons to all age groups. I have been tutoring people in Spanish since 1994, and have taught Spanish to army reservists, attorneys, school teachers, business entrepreneurs, university students and children.

I grew up with a passion for the Spanish language, its phonology, speech variations, and the music of the Spanish language. I met friends who inspired me with my interest in Spanish. As an 8 year old, I visited my mom's school festivals where she taught, in a hispanic area of Los Angeles. That was my first view of Mexican culture. Also at that age, I started listening to Spanish radio stations, and trying to copy the words, and "modismos."

At the age of 10, I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and met some very good Mexican American buddies. I was exposed to more Spanish, and got even more fascinated by the words and phonology of the language. I liked associating with Spanish speakers, and looked for them as I was out and about.

We moved to northwest Florida when I was around 12, and during my high school years, I was active in the Spansih club, and took Spanish classes. My love of Spanish took me the University of West Florida, where I earned my B.A. in Spanish, and taught Spanish to high school students for six years. I lived in Paraguay and Mexico for over three years, and met many good people who inspired me to go on to earn my Master's degree. I did just that. I went to Florida State University and earned a Master's in Spanish Language and Linguistics.

My high school Spanish teacher at Milton High School, Milton, Florida, and my university Spanish professors, all had a major impact on my desire to know more about Spanish, and Spanish speaking cultures.

Now, after having worked in different areas using my Spanish language/communication skills, I am seeking a return to education to teach Spanish, or English as a Second Language, or to employ my Spanish language skills in a more suitable business position, which you may have available for me.
